IDACDA presents the 2026 All-State Honor Choir for Jr. High singers in the Treasure Valley (site location TBA) on Friday-Saturday, February 27-28, 2026.

Welcome and Overview

A letter from All-State director and IDACDA past-president, Serena Clark to all Middle School and Junior High Choir Directors.

What is All-State?

Every year, the American Choral Directors Association sponsors a Jr. High All-State Honor Choir. This year, the Honor Choir is being held at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho.

This is a great opportunity for our young singers to have an honor choir experience and get the chance to sing in a large choir, under the direction of a nationally known clinician.

What is the time commitment for singers?

The Jr. High Honor Choir will be a two-day event on Friday and Saturday, February 26-27, 2026. Students will check-in promptly on Friday morning and rehearse throughout the day. They’ll check in again on Saturday morning, rehearse, have a dress rehearsal and performance that evening. It’s two days day packed with music, food, new friends, and opportunities to grow! They will be expected to come with their music learned.

How do singers join?

There is a two-step process to join: audition and registration.

Audition ($10): Directors invite Jr. High singers to submit an audio audition. This is done through our website. The audition consists of a two-octave F major scale (to assess voice part), intervals to assess pitch matching (a major triad, a minor triad, a tri-tone, 1-8-7), and a sing through of Happy Birthday, Dear Abby. There is a $10 audition fee for each singer. Singers sing-a-long to this audition backtrack:

Registration ($110): Once final lists have been posted, directors register and pay tuitions for their singers and distribute sheet music and practice files.

Directors should try to submit balanced parts (4 sopranos, 4 altos, 4 tenors, 4 basses).

How much does it cost?

There is a $10 audition fee and a $110 registration fee for Jr. High singers once accepted into the choir. The audition fee is collected during auditions and is non-refundable. The registration fee of $110 is also non-refundable. You can pay by Purchase Order and we’ll send you an invoice, or you can pay by credit card (preferred).

What do I (the director) need to do?

This is an amazing opportunity for you and your singers! There are two phases:

Auditions ($10)

  1. Identify singers from your organization to audition. Reach out to their families with pertinent information and to ensure they have parent/guardian support.
  2. Prepare, record, and submit audition files. This can be done directly on our website, using the registration form below, OR you can record their auditions using VOICE MEMO on a phone and UPLOAD their files through the form below. Do NOT alter the audition (do not alter the starting pitches of the scales or intervals).

3. Send this Registration Packet to the families and collect it from them.

Final Registration ($110)

Once final lists have been posted, directors need to:

  1. Finalize registration by collecting $110 per singer. The payment portal will be placed on this page.
  2. Distribute sheet music and practice files to finalists.
  3. Follow up with singers/parents to make sure they’re practicing at home.
  4. Each school that is sending students must provide a minimum of 1 chaperone to be present throughout the day to help be responsible for your group of students. This chaperone should bring the printed and signed Registration Packets to registration at 7:30 am on Friday, February 27, 2026.
