Brandi Cook grew up in West Boise and attended Fairmont Junior High and Capital High School. She studied piano intensely, accompanying the choirs in both junior high and high school. She played in a jazz combo for choirs starting in 8th grade.
Mrs. Cook also danced with the Treasure Valley Cloggers growing up, performing all over the Valley at every fair and community event there was! She started choreographing clogging routines for money at age 12, continued clogging through college with Strictly Clogging, and owned her own studio as a college student.
In high school she was Boise Valley’s Junior Miss. She attended the state program and won the talent portion and second alternate overall. This experience provided her with extensive leadership opportunities.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Choral Music Education from Utah State University, where she attended on a full ride leadership scholarship, sang in multiple choirs, played the piano for jazz band and played wedding gigs with her combo. She also taught piano and music theory for the Youth Conservatory at Utah State University.
Following college Mrs. Cook was hired at Kuna High School, where she built a program and taught for ten years. Her Women’s Choir was the selected performing choir in 2012 at the Idaho National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All-State Convention. She directed Oklahoma, Cinderella, and several musical revues, during her tenure at Kuna HS and was heavily involved in the Kuna community. She managed the large group festivals for District III in the Boise area and served on the Idaho chapter of the American Choral Directors Association board for seven years.
In 2013, Mrs. Cook and her family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. For two years she worked Youth Chorale of Central Minnesota, a high school community choir. While she worked there, the mixed group from that organization was selected and performed for the National American Choral Directors Association Conference in Minneapolis. She also served on the board for the internationally acclaimed North Star Boys Choir in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Mrs. Cook’s mentors include: Linda Schmidt, Ted Totorica, Lane Cheney, Will Kesling, Geoffrey Boers, Vijay Singh, Garrett Lathe, Jim Jirak, Cory Evans, Stephen Newton, and Rich Nace.
In 2021, Mrs. Cook accepted the choir director position at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian, Idaho.
Mrs. Cook married her husband, Trevor, in 2001. They have three sons and one daughter to complete their family. In her spare time she enjoys nutrition and fitness, sewing, and listening to live music.
