2018 In-Service Conference

“New Directions”
Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise

♦   Red Carpet” Registration: Photo booth, hors d’oeuvres, Video interviews, Interactive activities, Swag!
♦   Varied Headline sessions on working with middle-school and JHS choirs, including a lab choir session with Derrick Fox. (Derrick will conduct the MS/JHS Honor Choir at the National ACDA Conference in Kansas City next spring.)
Reading Sessions – Music provided by JW Pepper
♦   Four performing choirs selected from around the state APPLY HERE
♦   Multiple round-table discussions, including College/University “Master Teacher Mentoring,” Pacific Islander Choral Music, Icelandic Music, Building Choral Community, Sharing Warm-ups, and more
♦   Professional and social networking (including Boise Chapter of the Beer/Root Beer  Choir!)
♦   On Friday evening, enjoy a fully catered dinner, after which we will load onto a shuttle bus to the performance of Bernstein at 100: Overture to Candide, Chichester Psalms, and Tchaikovsky Symphony
No. 5. Presented by Boise Philharmonic and Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale.
♦   On Saturday morning, hear a presentation by our headliner, Dr. Derrick Fox, on “Care of the Passionate Choral Conductor: How to Care for Yourself During the Frantic School Year.” Dr. Fox will also work with selected lab choirs to tie together all of the techniques and concepts he discusses throughout the conference.

Dates and Times: Thursday, October 5 through Saturday, October 6
Begins with 5 p.m. registration on Thursday, ends at noon on Saturday.

Registration Fees:
Active Student ACDA Members: $5 (increases to $15 after 9/4/18)
Active ACDA Members: $105 (increases to $115 after 9/4/2018)
Non-Members: $240 (increases to $250 after 9/4/2018)

♦   First Time Idaho ACDA Fall Conference Attendees will receive ACDA Member registration pricing.
♦   Current ACDA Members who refer First Time Attendees will receive $10 off their registration fee for EACH First Time Attendee who lists their name on their registration for referring them to attend the conference.  There is NO LIMIT to the number of referral discounts you can receive – so with enough referrals, you could attend the Fall Conference for FREE!  Idaho ACDA will issue you a refund after the conference for the amount you earned in referrals!
♦   First Time Attendees and referring ACDA Members will BOTH receive gifts during the Red Carpet Reception as a thank you from Idaho ACDA for attending the Fall Conference!

Hotel Information:
Idaho ACDA has negotiated heavily reduced rates at a brand new downtown Boise hotel for the Fall Conference!  We are encouraging everyone to stay downtown – even if you live in Boise – to enjoy all of the activities planned and a weekend “away” with your friends and colleagues.  There is a place on the registration form to indicate if you’d like to be paired with a roommate – we will do our best to connect you!

Please keep in mind that professional development registrants are entitled to one free transcript per term (Spring, Summer, and Fall) in which credits are earned. You must submit a transcript request form to have yours sent. The transcript request form is available on the K-12 Professional Development website.
