To go directly to the Idaho ACDA calendar, click here.
If you're like me, you'll just jump in and do the calendar stuff without
attempting to following directions. It's fairly intuitive, so go right
ahead.
However, if you would need help with entering data, read
on:
Entering your event on the ID ACDA calendar
1. After opening the calendar, find the month and year of your event.
You can go directly to the month by clicking on the month of your event
in the "Navigate" line. Be sure to click on 2005 for events
happening next year.
2. Place your cursor arrow on the day of the month that your event
is to happen (the cursor becomes a hand). Click on this. (You can also
get to the same screen by clicking on word "daily" in the line toward
the left top of the page called "Add Events.")
3. A window comes up that allows you to "Create a new calendar entry."
Verify that the date highlighted in blue at the top of this window
is the date of your event.
4. Click in the white space labeled "Calendar text." This places your
cursor in position to enter text.
5. Type the basic information...name of group or event, location
of the event. Keep this as short as possible. Please don't get verbose,
it makes the calendar really look odd.
6. Click on the "start time" blue arrow. Choose the start time. Do
the same with the end time...guess, if you must.
7. If you would like a border around your material, click in the appropriate
box as shown.
8. If the event is a concert, click on the category down arrow and choose
"concerts." If the event is not a concert, skip this.
9. The "pop-up text" area leaves you room to explain more about the event.
If you type in nothing but a URL for a website, the viewer is taken immediately
to that site. Or you can insert the URL in the text explaining the details
of the event. Be sure to include the full URL, that is: http://etc...
10. Play with the color of the background choices as you wish. We suggest
you make sure the text is readable against the background.
11. Click on "SUBMIT."
12. You can then view the material on the actual calendar by clicking
on "view" at the top left of this window.
WARNING: This is a free calendar program and occasionally
it "hangs up." If this happens, close it down and try again. Mostly it
works really well, but don't get frustrated. "Free" is a good price.
Finally, please don't use the calendar to tell us your
birthday or your kid's birthday. It will not result in gifts coming your
way. Use the calendar for choral events or events you are sure would
be of interest to Idaho ACDA members.
